Google ‘sand mandala picture’ and you’ll see incredibly intricate sand mandalas that take many workers weeks to make. Afterwards, with a swipe of a hand or brush, or a tossing into the river, they’re destroyed. Why? It’s a rather Buddhist way to remind us that all material things are impermanent.
