Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein, lit. New Swan Stone palace; pronounced [n????va?n?ta??n]) is a 19th-century Bavarian palace on a rugged hill near Hohenschwangau and Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany.

If Im not mistaken this is Neuschwanstein castle in Germany

  32. 2008.09.24 16:42

It is Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, southern Germany. An interesting bit of trivia is that it was never meant to be lived in. The king, Mad Ludwig, who had it built had a fetish for Wagnerian Opera. He had it built in the late 1800s to replicate scenes from various operas by Wagner. In fact the castle was designed by a set designer not an architect.

Yes you are correct the fabled cartoon outline Disney castle was taken from this very image. This castle and I know I won’t spell it right is Neishwanstein catle nestled in the hills of the famous Black Forest of Germany. The only reason I know such info is I lived in the Black Forest in Germany as a young girl and have been to this very castle which belong to a king by the name of King Ludwig.

  34. 2008.09.29 14:39

King Ludwig ended up in an insane asylum when he bankrupted himself and went into debt building that castle and others near it. At least that’s what my tourguide told me when i was there.

No, not Austria (Austria is just on the other side of the mountains). No, not Black Forest. (Black Forest is in South WEST Germany, not South EAST) No not New Jersey or Orlando. Yes to Füssen, near München (Munich), in Bavaria, in Germany. The Castle was not even completed until 10 years after the Ballet Swan Lake was composed. Swan Lake was actually based on Russian Fables and Fairy Tales. King Ludwig had a “thing” for Swan symbolism. There is much swan imagery in Linderhof, Chiemsee and the next door neighbor to Neuschwanstein, Hohen Schwangau.

  38. 2008.12.19 13:53

How much do you think this castle would cost if you wanted to purchase it?

  39. 2008.12.19 13:55

Can you imagine how long it would take to save up the money in order to buy this property?

  40. 2009.02.19 05:30

I visited Neuschwanstein castle on a family trip through europe a few years ago. The most interesting thing I remember was Ludwig’s obsession with swans. the door handles were swans, the ceiling had swans on it, the walls had swans, I even bought a stein that has a picture of him with swan emblems at a small town near there.
