I think that I didn’t saw weirdest job in the last time. Pictures shows you all what this man is doing to earn money for living. Well, I think that he is doing that as a job, I don’t think that this one is his private one. It is really sad that some people have this kind of jobs.

    Why don’t they use machines? We do the same work but machines are used.

    In India the men that do this job are called Dalit. He’s doing this because it’s his “obligation” according to the believes of indian people because he was born to do this like his father, grandfather, mother… And if the mentality don’t change, his son and grandsons will do it too. Sad but true

    This is in India. The man who is cleaning the sewers is a Dalit. This is considered one of the lowest castes. The people in this particular caste are considered by many as less than human. Could a machine do this job? Yes, but you would pay more for a machine.

    For those who didn’t figure it out – That’s India. Manual scavenging of excreta and the pipe works (woinna ;) ) is very common. A majority of the country still suffers from a diminished quality of life with only the cream of the crop benefiting from economic progress. Lesson learned: Next time an Indian tells you about how great his country is, read in between the words

    They likely can’t afford them!

    Frank, you can donate some money for them to buy machines.
    And just to mention, this man is probably from the lower social caste in India. You can do a google on Indian caste system, its rather outrageous that people still practice such things do.

    frank = its because its more cheaper to hire people to do it rather than buy the machines…

    Frank, unfortunately not every country is as fortunate as yours. The world is not a fair place dude. Clearly they would be using machines if they had one wouldn’t they. Have u ever thought about that?

    because the average wage in this country is like 5 dollars per week or something stupid like that. Most developing countries are drowning in poverty…. very ethnocentric attitude you have there. check it.

    @Frank
    What’s the farthest you’ve ever been away from your home? I’m assuming not very far, relatively speaking. You see, there are countries in this world that are poor. They don’t have the same amenities and they don’t live a life of luxury that you do. We refer to these countries as “Third World Countries”. Next time you shit into a toilet and flush it away and never have to think about it again, be thankful of what you have. The alternative is in the pictures provided above.
